FBS (Glucometer) — lab prices in Pakistan
Fasting blood sugar (FBS or FBG) measures plasma glucose after at least eight hours without food. It is used for diabetes screening, pregnancy checks, pre-operative clearance, and monitoring when HbA1c is not yet available. A single high reading should be confirmed on another day before labeling someone diabetic.
Fast for 8–12 hours: water only, no tea, milk, or chewing gum. Book a morning slot between 8 and 10 a.m. if possible. Do not smoke on the way to the lab. If you feel shaky or sweaty while fasting, tell staff immediately—do not drive yourself if symptoms worsen.
