Urine Protein Electrophoresis (Research Purpose Only) at Shaukat Khanum Lab

A urine complete examination (urinalysis) checks colour, clarity, pH, protein, glucose, pus cells, casts, and sometimes culture if infection is suspected. It helps diagnose urinary tract infection, kidney inflammation, diabetes spillover, and stone disease. In women, a mid-stream clean-catch sample reduces contamination from skin flora.

For routine urinalysis, a first-morning sample is preferred because it is more concentrated. Wash the genital area with water, discard the first few millilitres, then collect in the sterile cup provided. If you are menstruating, inform the lab—some doctors postpone non-urgent testing until bleeding stops.
